Gurren Lagann is an absolute classic. It's a joyously fun and bombastic mecha anime that's not willing to get incredibly cheesy, while also having a surprising amount of emotional moments. I wasn't a fan of the second half, but at its best, TTGL was incredibly good. Here's my ranking of its episodes:
